The Dark Tower : the series Amazon back on track… without Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey

After years of development, the series “The Dark Tower”, based on the work of Stephen King, could finally see the light of day on Amazon. A pilot is ordered and the first names of the distribution have been announced… In February 2018, Amazon announced a floor on a series The Dark Tower, adapted from the saga literary worship of Stephen King, and this despite the resounding failure of its film adaptation in 2017. It was unclear at the time if this would be a sequel or a prequel to the movie and if Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba, in the skin of the two heroes, would always be involved. A year later, the project officially since the streaming platform has launched the pre-production of a pilot. It should be filmed from the end of the month of April, between Slovenia and Croatia. Supervised by Glenn Mazzara, former showrunner of The Walking Dead, the series will not be directly related to the movie of Nikolaj Arcel and neither McConaughey nor Elba will not be back. The idea is to remain more faithful to the original artwork, especially in the first novel. It will tell the origins of the character of Roland Deschain, the famous Gunslinger (“Gunslinger”) : how he got his weapons, his first confrontation with the Man in Black, his first love story and his first mission. The production has already chosen its two main actors : and Sam Strike, seen in Nightflyers and MINDHUNTER, will play Roland, and the Finnish Jasper Pääkkönen, crossed in Vikings and BlacKkKlansman, will Marten, the character that Roland wants to kill.
